Spittoon, is a spittoon traditionally used in coffee cupping. The spittoon is usually large and held between the taster's legs for ease of spitting. Coffee cupping, or coffee tasting, is the practice of observing the taste and aroma of brewed coffee. This is a professional activity but can be done informally by anyone or by professionals known as "Q Graders".

The standard coffee cupping process involves smelling the coffee deeply, then slurping the coffee from a spoon so that it aerates and spreads across the tongue. Because coffee beans express the unique flavors of the region in which they are grown, curators can attempt to determine the coffee's origin.

Spittoon is made of metal, plated with copper. A lot of testing was done to get a structure of the tube that wouldn't leak - because saliva and coffee together create some powerful effects on anything containing the substance welding - and that's why it was made entirely from a sheet of metal. Two-piece tube construction (top part can be removed or made easier to empty and clean).
