The Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), is a country in Central Europe. In 1908, the Germans created the Paper Coffee Filter invented by Melitta Bentz and Gottlob Widmann's electronic drip coffee machine in 1954. The country has a "Coffee Day" every year, Hamburg is Germany's largest port city and the third largest in Europe, since the seventeenth century the city opened its first café. In 1887, with the start of the first coffee exchange and many years later, the German port city became the center of global coffee trade and one of the world's major green coffee trade centers. Today, the port of Hamburg imports about 700,000 tons of coffee a year while exporting 400,000 to countries in Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. Coffee beans are imported into Germany mainly from South America, Africa and Asia, such as Brazil, Colombia, Kenya, Vietnam ... after being roasted, the coffee is exported to EU countries. In 2021, Germany imported 1.1 million tons of green coffee beans, each German consumed 169 liters of coffee a year, more than German beer (90 liters/year). 
Popular coffees in Germany are: Eiskaffee – cold coffee with vanilla ice cream; Irish coffee – Mokka with Whiskey, cream and sugar; Mokka – a strong coffee; Pharisäer – black coffee with rum, sugar and thick whipped cream; Turkish Kaffee – strong coffee served in a small pot, with grounds included.
