The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom (UK) or Britain, is a country in Northwestern Europe. Coffee was introduced to England in the mid-17th century, with London's first coffee house opening in 1652. The British prefer instant coffee to ground coffee. In fact, nearly 3/4 of the coffee prepared at home is ready-to-drink. Instant coffee is preferred because it is easy and quick to prepare, and also because it produces almost the same flavor and strength every time it is prepared. Despite this, there are more than 30,000 cafes and other venues serving coffee in the UK and the café market is estimated to be worth £15 billion a year, with favourite drinks being lattes, cappuccinos and flat white. The UK's per capita consumption is only 2.8 kg, ranking it 44th on the list of top coffee consuming countries in the world.
After leaving the EU in 2020, green coffee imports into the UK decreased in 2021, returning to “normal” levels in 2022 at 176,618 tonnes, an increase of around 21,000 tonnes. Still far from the highest import level (189,590 tons in 2018). The UK is the 16th country  among the 20 largest coffee importing countries of Dak Lak (Vietnam)
