This is a wooden statue of a woman named "the Pregnant mother" of Africa, bought by a German man living in a small town in Hamburg and displayed at his cafe. After a visit to an Africa in the 19th century, he worshiped this wooden statue as a decoration for him to look at every day. He recounted, “This statue has a profound meaning of women beauty in Africa, embodying the true fertility and faithful love of women, and there is nothing more precious than the image of a pregnant woman that expresses a mother's love for her children”. The owner of this statue said that many visitors came to his cafe for enjoyment and wanted to buy it for display, but he refused. Until the beginning of the 20th century, this wooden statue was stolen and it was present at a museum in Germany. If you really understand the religious and cultural meanings of Africa, surely you will be amazed at the spirituality hidden behind every statue or photograph you have ever seen as well as Ethiopia's Coffee Culture rooted in the cult of worship and harmony with the fertile Mother Nature. To highlight that meaning, the celebration of the coffee rituals was also very relaxed and comfortable. In the Ethiopian coffee rituals, the woman plays a key role in the preparation and setting up ceremonies. At home when receiving guests, it is the hostess or a younger female replaced. Coffee is served three times: morning, noon, and afternoon – each time can last up to 2-3 hours. In the village, the coffee ritual is also the most important and it is an honor to be invited. First, the room or tent is swept clean, sprinkled with fragrant grass and flowers. The female celebrant burns frankincense or incense to purify the atmosphere and ward off evil spirits.
