German automatic postcard machine, born between 1890 and 1907 was made of metal painted sky blue. It is a square cylindrical body with a pyramid-like top, and it looks like a skyscraper at first glance. It works by putting coins in a small compartment on the machine, then the postcard will exit from the bottom slot. In the early 1880s, the first commercial coin-operated vending machines were introduced in London, England. The machines were commonly found at train stations and post offices because they were convenient for purchasing envelopes, postcards, and sticky notes. In 1887, the first vending machine server, Sweetmeat Automatic Delivery Co., was founded. The vending machines were soon provided almost everything including cigars and stamps. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a coin-operated restaurant called Horn & Hardart opened in 1902 and lasted until 1962. Later, the vending machines sold a variety of items as we see everywhere nowadays such as food and other goods, even cars.
