Traditionally, the Russians boil tea with a teapot called Samovar, the sophisticated and stylish one that cannot be found anywhere else. Samovar is a pot for boiling tea and keeping it warm. The kettle is delicately made like the shape of a bronze cup. It has two handles to carry and a faucet to open for water. Some of the top lids can hold a tiny teapot to warm up. In Russian, Samovar means 'automatic cooking. Samovar also represents wealth. Beautifully patterned pots are often used in important ceremonies and guest welcome. In the past, to boil water in that kettle, people picked up embers, pine cones and wood chips to put them in a special tube that acted like a small stove inside the Samovar to keep heat. These kettles were made around the middle of the 19th century.
