    Unique architectural masterpiece

The Coffee World Museum is inspired by the philosophy of healing architecture and the quintessence of Indigenous culture.

The Coffee World Museum is shaped on the foundation of building towards a museum of global coffee cultural heritage. The difference and uniqueness of the museum is that it is a LIVING - OPEN - INTERACTIVE museum about global coffee culture and a virtual museum introducing a collection of thousands of artifacts.

The attraction of the museum comes first from the external architectural form and then from the internal exhibition space. The architecture of the Coffee World Museum has done that. The building is a complex of freely curved blocks, connected to each other through "touch points" on the winding and flexible curves. The building blocks interfere with each other to create a quite special, unique and new architectural shape, as if simulating symbols of ancient people, seemingly encoded and blended into the space of heaven and earth of the highland.

It is easy to recognize the Indigenous mark on the architectural shape, which is the image of the long house of the Ede people and the soaring roof of the communal house - symbols of Central Highlands architecture. With a dispersed layout, the building gives a feeling of openness, lightness and harmony with nature. Part of the building is "buried" in the ground, creating many levels, leading viewers to many interesting things, suggesting discoveries along the way. Overall, the architecture of the project is free, light, improvising but still scientific, strict, discreet, and sustainable of the museum genre. Bare concrete is the main material, present in all interior walls and roofs; The rest is wood, stone, and cement floors

The overall architecture represents the relationship between space and time, between the invisible and the visible, between the real and the virtual; The curvature of the architectural blocks shows the movement between the existing and the missing. The entire architectural block radiates abundant energy, expressing a desire for creativity, a space that always hopes to discover the mystery of creation, a museum that is always OPEN.

The architectural work was built on a hill of red basalt soil, at the foot of the hill is a stream flowing to the south. The building's construction material is basalt covering the outside of the building, created from a volcanic eruption that accumulated energy over 160 million years. It has outstanding advantages such as compatibility and environmental friendliness, almost unaffected by the environment, highly aesthetic, noise-proof, capable of air conditioning (natural cooling, warming...).

Not only the roof, even the walkways and stones surrounding the landscape areas of the Coffee World Museum and all other utilities of the Coffee City project, Trung Nguyen Legend use basalt, a type of environmentally friendly material, used in construction to protect the health of the community.

The choice of location and materials to build the Coffee World Museum shows a great, transcendent idea that has been thought about for quite a long time and carefully, combined with creative ideas that are deeply philosophical. The colors have created an architectural model with a unique and strange style and structure.

The structure of the building represents 5 architectural blocks, standing for the 5 elements of the Classic of Change: Metal - Water - Wood - Fire - Earth, the basic factors that create the world; it is also a description of the five continents of the earth; 5 fingers of a hand with the meaning "our hands makes everything". However, the key message in the exhibition content of the Coffee World Museum is the 5 stages of planting - caring - harvesting - preserving - enjoying coffee, which is the harmony of the 5 Spirits (Earth, Water, People, Trees, Jobs), to create a cup of coffee that is truly "the best in the world".

With an impressive and strange architectural design, the Coffee World Museum is a "difficult mathematics problem" for design and construction units. Therefore, the Investor - Trung Nguyen Legend Group had to research and carefully consider the organizations participating in design and construction. These are all top reputable organizations which possess solid experience and especially must have flexible creativity to suit a very special project like the Coffee World Museum. For example, the construction team had to research and manufacture their own specialized scaffolding system just for the Coffee World Museum, because on the market it was impossible to find any suitable scaffolding...

During many years of working in the museum field internationally and in Vietnam, all museum experts agree that the Coffee World Museum model is an unprecedented museum model in the world; contemporary and harmoniously combined with unique local characteristics, unique Oriental elements, enough to captivate the world.

Construction of the Trung Nguyen Legend Coffee Museum commenced in March 2018, and after 235 days of continuous construction with thousands of workers laboring day and night, on November 23, 2018, it was officially inaugurated. The project has become an iconic architectural symbol of the Vietnamese coffee industry, attracting millions of tourists each year and contributing to the development of the local economy, trade, and commerce. It has gradually transformed Buon Ma Thuot into the global capital of coffee.

    Prof. Nguyen Van Huy

Prof. Nguyen Van Huy, former Director of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and one of the leading experts in museums in Southeast Asia, shared: "I am fortunate to have been involved in the idea formation of a world coffee cultural museum from the early days, and I was truly captivated by the uniqueness and distinctiveness of the concept. The most impressive thing is that the museum itself is attractive enough to the world, but it is only a part of the Global Coffee Capital in Vietnam. Both Mr. Ama Galla, Vice Chairman of the World Coffee Museum, and I were fascinated by the idea of a living museum of coffee."

From the Jens Burg Coffee Museum to the Coffee World Museum

In 1927, Erich Burg, father of Jens Burg, founded the first coffee factory on Eppendorfor Street, Hamburg (Germany) called Burg's Kaffee Rosterei. People did this slowly as if enjoying the fun of the job. And more than half a century later, his son Jens Burg did the same as his father. The coffee roasting speed was not faster, but the coffee flavor was getting better and better. Jens Burg roasted and processed coffee without a flavor meter, he mainly worked with his eyes, nose and a lot of sensitivity from a person who "dedicated" his life to the flavor of coffee beans.

To be able to work in such a "lazy" way, Erich Burg had to go through a crisis with the disappearance of hundreds of coffee roasters in Hamburg in the 1950s due to falling coffee prices. And it took a passion for coffee for his small coffee shop on the street to survive until now.

After the results of his 10 years of hard creative work recognized by everyone, Jens Burg started working on his own Coffee Museum. He said: "The appearance of giant coffee corporations such as Jacobs, Darboven... has caused many artisanal coffee shops to close due to not being able to compete and not having enough equipment to prepare and produce coffee. The coffee tools and equipment were thrown into the landfill. This makes me extremely sad. To save the memories, I spent more than 20 years collecting them all and in 2000 my rich collection officially became the Coffee Museum located on an area of 350 m2 at number 23-25, Munster Road".

From Jens Burg's small coffee factory to the Coffee Museum next door, there wouldn't be much of anything special, if it weren't for the fact that he was once a "sinner of the pinnacle of decadence" because he was accused of "adding flavors to coffee". Flavored coffee is very common today, diners can enjoy coffee flavored with orange, raspberry, cinnamon... But, at the time when Jens Burg experimented, it was an action that most coffee connoisseurs regarded as "stupid and shocking". For them, coffee should just stop at the coffee flavor.

In this museum, visitors can find the smallest charcoal coffee roasting pan, coffee grinders, coffee cups, specialized tools, advertising labels from ancient times, and brewing tools to create those special coffee scents...

In 2007, Chairman of Trung Nguyen Group Dang Le Nguyen Vu visited the Jens Burg Museum and during the next 3 years, he was determined to pursue the goal of owning the museum's artifacts. The enthusiasm of Founder - Trung Nguyen Legend Group Dang Le Nguyen Vu made Jens Burg believe that he met the right person who "lives for coffee" to take over the museum. In September 2010, more than 10,000 coffee museum artifacts of Jens Burg arrived in Vietnam and were brought to the coffee capital of Buon Ma Thuot, Vietnam.
