Brown patterned ceramic jar, around the end of the Ly dynasty (XIII century), was sophisticatedly crafted, with a thick ceramic core, using brown glaze as decoration on the ivory glaze base. Decorative patterns created by engraving and browning on the ivory enamel base are prominent features of the brown patterned ceramic decorative style of the Ly dynasty. Decorative patterns are arranged in large arrays on an open background to become an iconic style. The decorative patterns around the jar's body are the creeper drawn realistically, partly reflecting the natural landscape. The decoration of brown patterns ceramics is also closely related to the white glaze and celadon ones of the same period and other items made from different materials such as stone, terracotta, wood, copper, etc.
