Ancient clay pot of the Ly Dynasty, born around the beginning of the 13th century. The kettle is quite round, with a height equal to a diameter of 17cm; The kettle's mouth is modest in size, the pouring spout is small and the handle has holes, the kettle's body is engraved with circles and wavy lines running around, the kettle is still quite intact and at first glance looks like metal on the outside.

This is the period of building autonomy after thousands of years of Northern domination. With a sense of national self-reliance after the glorious victories against the Southern Han army, the Song army, and the Mongol Yuan army, the national culture was strongly revived, Dai Viet civilization reached its peak during the Ly Tran period. At this time, ceramics were extremely developed with many different ceramic lines, typically celadon ceramics, brown glazed ceramics, brown-flower white glazed ceramics, single-color white glazed ceramics, and green glazed ceramics. During this period, crockery was also quite developed with pots, jars, and tureens decorated with images of chrysanthemums, shrimp, fish, and deer on the shoulders. Because earthenware does not absorb water, when used as a container, it can store and preserve things better than earthenware or even glazed ceramics. Porcelain also requires certain clay materials, more specific than earthenware clays, but no more stringent than porcelain clays.
